The legendary telugu poet Veturi Sundararama Murthy has died today due to cardiac arrest. He was ailing for sometime but today evening due to sudden cardiac arrest he was moved to corporate hospital where he died.
He was born on 29 January 1936, in Kolluru near Tenali located in Guntur district in AP, in a Telugu Brahmin family. He started his career as journalist for prominent magazines like Andhra Patrika and Andhra Prabha before becoming a lyricist. While working as a journalist, Veturi got his first break in movies through Dr.K.Viswanath. Veturi wrote a large variety of songs ranging from classic poetry to the folk and mass ones. He is also the second lyricist from Telugu film industry to win the National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the song Raalipoye puvva neeku ragaalenduke from the Movie Maathrudevobhava. His love towards telugu made him return the national award as Telugu was not given the status of classic language by the Government of India.
